With over 35 years in the electronics repair and test industry I offer electronics and HiFi repair services near Stroud in Gloucestershire.
I also offer a postal repair service so can take on repairs from anywhere in the UK.
Email me for a quote about your repair. If it’s a HiFi repair I will need the model number.
The blog shows some of the electronics and hifi items such as amplifiers I’ve repaired. Also check out my YouTube channel to see some of what I do.
Popular repairs by type
I generally repair older audio equipment such as vintage amplifiers, turntables and receivers as most of the components in them are still available in either their original or newer forms.
Older audio equipment tends to use knobs and switches rather than push buttons and displays.
Among the various amps that come my way I’ve repaired a number of the popular vintage Pioneer SX-434 and SX-450 receivers and a couple of Hitachi HA-5300 amplifiers so I’m familiar with them and the faults they have.
Obviously I take on other makes along with more recent audio equipment for repair.
I have electronics repair skills in the following fields
- HiFi, TVs and PCs
- Audio amplifiers
- Phono amplifiers
- Record turntables (belts, cables etc)
- PCB repairs
- Recapping
- AV equipment
- Broadcast equipment, teletext and audio description
- Betting shop display systems
- AES Audio (digital audio)
- SDI Video (digital video)
- Turntable belt replacement & phono cables
- Technics SL1210 RCA Phono Cable Replacement
While not everything is repairable due to parts availability or that the time taken to effect a repair will take too long to be viable, a lot of things are easily repaired.
Things like wires that become detached from circuit boards, leaking capacitors or bad solder joints for example are usually quick fixes.
The board below for example is from an Acorn stairlift. A large relay is prone to failure so often needs replacing. The stairlifts are sold by a non electronics company that don’t have the skills to replace the part themselves.
Please contact me if I can help with something similar.

I refurbish and repair Hi-Fi amplifiers for resale after checking them over for obvious signs of impending failure such as bulging capacitors, crackling switches and controls, dry joints etc and repair anything that needs it.
Unlike a lot of modern amplifiers, thirty or forty year old amplifiers have turntable phono inputs to please all those into the vinyl revival along with cassette deck inputs as that’s also making a comeback.
