There’s a lot of good reasons to have your old hifi repaired rather than replacing it with something new.
Old hifi looks and sounds great and is far easier to get repaired than modern hifi as it uses easy to obtain parts.
As it can easily last decades It often has sentimental value.

Typical amplifier faults I repair are crackling volume controls, pops and static noises from the speakers and dead channels.
Part of my repair service will be to check and repair any bad solder joints along with checking it for any leaking or bulging capacitors if they’re accessible.
The old Pioneer receivers and Sansui amplifier shown below are some of the amplifiers I’ve previously repaired. They’re over 46 years old and still repairable!

I repair Thorens, Goldring Lenco, Dual, Kenwood Trio, Technics and many other makes.
Record turntables can suffer hum and buzz problems due to faulty connecting cables, bad earthing or distortion due to bad cartridge tracking weight and or alignment.
I can also repair the thin wires that attach to the cartridge that are all too easy to snap!
I can fit and align a new cartridge along with setting the tracking weight and at the same time give it a general check over.

You can drop the turntable off so there’s no need to take a risk with shipping it.

I can recap (replace capacitors) in old electronics for you. This includes equipment such as old home computers like BBC micros.

Tools of the electronics repair trade
An oscilloscope lets me look at and measure voltages and signals so shows me exactly what’s going on with faulty electronics. I use both analogue and modern digital scopes.
This along with other test equipment speeds up electronics fault diagnostics and is far better than the ‘change random parts until it might work’ approach!

I’m located in Nailsworth in Gloucestershire which is eight miles away from junction 13 of the M5.
I’m within easy travelling distance of Gloucester, Cheltenham, Cirencester, Bristol, Bath and Tewkesbury although I’m happy to be shipped hifi that needs to be repaired.
When I give you a quote that’s the price you pay unless it needs some expensive parts.
